Adopt a Long-Term Shelter Resident

Like many animal shelters, Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter has residents that have been waiting for homes way too long! Please consider coming by and meeting Antoinette, Emmett and April. They have so much love to give!

ANTOINETTE

This grand old lady is 8 years old and has been at FAAS for a cumulated total of more than a year. (She was adopted in 2017 but returned in January because her military family could not take a dog to their new location.) She's a volunteer and staff favorite. One of her many fans has paid her adoption fee so you don't have to.

Antoinette is a very mellow, low-energy pup who just wants to be fed and loved and taken on short walks around the neighborhood. She loves meeting new people and gets on great with kids. She only asks to be your only dog. To know Antoinette is to love her! If you have room in your heart and home for a senior pet, please come meet this gentle gal.

EMMETT

Emmett has been at FAAS since October. His cropped ears might make him look like a tough guy but he's a marshmallow! Emmett only wants attention and affection. He waits patiently for you to harness him for walks and as our volunteers will attest, he is verrrry huggable thanks to his super-soft coat.

Emmett loves kids. He is 4 years old and also has been sponsored so there is no adoption fee. Emmett might get along with another dog if properly introduced. Cats are for chasing, though! Make this love bug a new member of your family today!

APRIL

An ideal home for 3-year-old April would include a yard because she has tons of energy and loves to play. She's mostly house trained, but does best with daily walks to explore and stretch her legs. She will happily stay crated as long as the bed is comfy and she has toys.

Here's what her foster home had to say about April: "When in public, April likes the attention she gets from strangers; it makes her happy. She's good with older kids and loves to play! She's mostly uninterested in what other dogs are doing, but it would be best if she were the only dog.

"April is a happy pup just looking for some humans with time to receive the love she has to give and love her fully in return. She's a forever friend who is a loyal companion. She does have a skin allergy that a team is working on. Doctors think the best medicine is a good home."

Come take Antoinette, Emmett or April for a walk.

Our Adoption Center is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. If you have questions, please contact llopez@alamedaanimalshelter.org.
